Hydroseeding is an innovative process that allows homeowners, contractors and commercial property owners the ability to vegetate their properties quickly and cost effectively. It is a planting process that utilizes a slurry of seed, water, fertilizer, mulch and tackifier. Depending on the project, the varieties of seed used for this process can include grass or lawn seed, wildflowers, pasture seed, seed specific for athletic fields, and seed for erosion control.
The process allows water to act as a carrier and the contact of the seed and water activates the growth process. Fertilization is included to stimulate root growth. Mulch, which gives hydroseeded areas their green color, helps protect the seed and seals in moisture. Tackifiers help hold the materials in place while helping seal moisture in the soil.
